Etching has become the central focus of my practice, particularly over the last two years of my Illustration degree. It allows me to achieve the rich textures and deep tonal qualities that my other artwork sometimes lacks. I’m drawn to the physical, tactile nature of this ancient process, especially in today’s predominantly digital world. The chemistry involved in printmaking is incredibly exciting, there’s always an element of surprise, as you can’t truly know what the plate will look like until it’s inked and printed.
